Hey Chasers!
We’re back in Los Angeles. Last time that we were in the City of Angels we had an awesome adventure hanging out with the team from SpaceVidCast (now TMRO), Kevin Grazier, and Bill Nye the Science Guy.
This time we have another exciting line-up of interviews and adventures. Tomorrow, Benjamin Higginbotham of the TMRO team has setup a tour at SpaceX. Not sure exactly what’s in store for us yet, but hoping to get a glimpse of all the space revolutionizing awesomeness that Elon Musk is giving to the world. Likely we will not be able to take any footage at SpaceX, but we might be able to take some stills. We will post them if we can.
Later in the week, we will be connecting with Huston Huddleston of the New Starship Project. The New Starship Project began as a mission to restore the Enterprise-D bridge using pieces from the movie Star Trek: Generations and prop pieces from the Los Vegas Star Trek Experience. From there, the project expanded into the Hollywood Sci-Fi Museum. the Museum, still in the works, will be a nonprofit, educational project to inspire people’s fascination with science and a positive view of the future through science fiction. Plans are to include entire displays on robots and a hall of iconic sci-fi space ships. The Museum’s Board of Directors includes names such as Ronald D. Moore of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica, and Larry Nemecek of Star Trek. There is also a video from Grant Imahara of Mythbusters about a planned Hall of Robots.
Our highlight for the week is an interview with Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry, son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. A few months ago, I saw Rod’s documentary “Trek Nation”, where Rod explores who his father was through the phenomenon of Star Trek. The film is a very personal reflection on Rod’s relationship with his Father. In many ways, the film is constructed similarly to Chasing Atlantis as it shares a first-person journey of personal discovery. Rod’s film also touches on many themes similar to Chasing. We thought it would be awesome to connect with Rod in person and he agreed! We are really stoked. And we’ve decided to do something different with this interview. Rather than shooting it as a standard sit-down formal interview. We have decided to go more informal causal with this one…it will be a conversation about Trek, Space, Gene, and life. I am really looking forward to see how it is going to turn out.
Finally we are rounding out the week interviewing a representative of Virgin Galactic…I hear they might be taking us for a spin in SpaceShipTwo…but that isn’t confirmed yet.
We’ll keep you posted on the deets as the week continues!
Keep Chasing!
